Air Commodore Emily Flynn, former station commander of RAF Brize Norton, the RAF’s Air Mobility Hub, shares the role the Station played in the evacuation from Kabul in August 2021 as part of the largest airlift since Berlin in 1948. Operation Pitting was implemented to evacuate 15,000 Afghan Nationals from Kabul, who were escaping to make a new life in the UK after the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban.
