Emi inspired has been inspired by the smocking dress on display in the Oxfordshire Museum. Taking this dress, she has found a similarity between the smocking stitching and Japanese shibori tie-dye stitching. Both techniques use gathering techniques. Participants will learn a few different shibori tie-dyeing techniques first and then work on their designs. At the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to dye their work with an indigo vat.
