Woodstock Society – Jewry in Medieval Oxford – 21st October  2019

At 8.00 pm we are delighted to welcome Pam Manix BA,M.Arch  M Phil who will speak to us about  ‘Jewry in Medieval Oxford ‘.

Pam was brought up in the U.S.A and obtained her BA at Sarah Lawrence College,New York/Univ. Oxford followed by an M.Arch from the University  of Virginia and then achieved a M.Phil in Medieval History at Cambridge University in the 1990s’

With such an illustrious career her dissertation on ‘Oxford Medieval Jewry ‘whilst at Cambridge brought her to the attention of Oxford University and Pam was appointed Project Historian  at the Oxford Jewish Heritage Committee.

Pam also works with historians who have researched similar Medieval Jewish quarters in Winchester, Bristol, York and Bury St .Edmund’s.

Her expertise is particularly the Community in Oxford which flourished in Medieval times.

Pam’s book on the subject is due for publication in 2020. In addition Pam has written many monographs relating to the above subject.

In keeping with our wide ranging programme we can once again look forward toan interesting and informative presentation from an accomplished speaker.
